Michelle Higgins is a journalist\nand educator with extensive experience developing premium content across\nplatforms for influential audiences. She began her career as a news assistant\nfor The Wall Street Journal, where she wrote about luxury travel for the\nWeekend Journal. Shortly thereafter, she became a reporter covering personal\nfinance and automobiles. She was part of the team that launched Personal\nJournal and frequently wrote the Cranky Consumer column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, she joined the The\nNew York Times where she wrote the Practical Traveler column for six years\nbefore joining the Real Estate desk as the lead reporter. In more than a decade\nat The Times, Michelle\u2019s writing appeared on page one as well as in the Travel,\nReal Estate, Business, Styles, and Metro sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is the co-author of \u201cThe New\nYork Times: Right at Home: How to Buy, Decorate, Organize and Maintain Your\nSpace,\u201d due out in March 2020. Her work can also be found in several books,\nincluding \u201cSmarter Living: Work – Nest- Invest – Relate – Thrive,\u201d (Hachette\nBook Group, 2019), \u201cThe New York Times: 36 Hours America & The Caribbean\n(Taschen, 2013), \u201cThe New York Times Practical Guide to Practically Everything\u201d\n(St. Martin\u2019s Press, 2006) and \u201cThe Wall Street Journal Guide to the Business\nof Life\u201d (Crown 2005). Michelle has appeared as an expert and featured\ncommentator on NBC\u2019s TODAY show, CNN, CNBC\u2019s Squawk Box and Power Lunch, the\nTravel Channel and NPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She currently serves as the\ndirector of Career Services The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at\nCUNY, where she draws on her career in journalism to foster relationships\nbetween students and employers, and to help aspiring media professionals\ndevelop their careers for fulfillment and impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
